May’s provider of the month is Susan Hanson, FNP-BC! From newborn to geriatric, Hanson provides comprehensive care for a variety of patients, and specializes in Family Practice, Pediatrics, Diabetes, and Obesity.
Born and raised in Paxton, IL, Susan Hanson was an active member of the Masonic Rainbow group, and began her healthcare career as a Candy Striper at the Paxton Hospital. She continued her health work as a volunteer on the Ford-Baier Ambulance Service for over 20 years. As a mother of three children, Susan began college with her focus on nursing once her children had reached school age. Upon graduation Susan worked at Gibson Area Hospital, then Provena Covenant Medical Center in Urbana, IL. After over 14 years of experience Susan felt the drive to excel and began schooling at Indiana State University where she graduated 8 years ago with a 3.98 gpa as a Professional Family Nurse Practitioner. Since 2014, Hanson has worked with Carle Hoopeston Regional Medical Center – Charlotte Ann Russell Medical Center (where she was honored with multiple Gold Star Awards), Cissna Park Medical Clinic, and Gibson Area Hospital – Gibson Health of Hoopeston.
Susan Hanson, FNP-BC has now been caring for patients at IMH Medical Group – Milford since early May of 2021. When it comes to providing for patients, Hanson states, “I am dedicated to providing compassionate and holistic care for all of my patients, by educating them about all aspects of their current health issues and how together, we can move forward to improve their health. I believe in the importance of preventative health, to help patients live longer, healthier, and happier lives.”
In addition to being dedicated to her patients, Susan is also an active member of the community. She is very active in the First Lutheran Church, where she serves as the Parish Nurse. Susan and her husband of 41 years have 3 children, 10 grandchildren and love to be with them as they participate in community activities. Susan loves everything outdoors; from camping to gardening, enjoying her cats and dogs, and raising chickens.
