Kristy Huse is an Occupational Therapist with nearly 23 years of experience. She began her career as an Occupational Therapy Assistant in 1998 and became an Occupational Therapist in 2010. Kristy Huse has spent her entire OT career with Iroquois Memorial Hospital.
With so many years in the Occupational Therapy field, Kristy Huse has worked with a wide range of cases. “My experience has included evaluation and treatment in a variety of upper extremity conditions and splint fabrication,” says Huse. Her experience, however, goes past just Occupational Therapy. “I am also an Assistive Technology Professional, which allows me to perform wheelchair assessments and work with adaptive equipment and technology to make everyday tasks easier for people at home.” Huse also provides Occupational Therapy to pediatric patients in the clinic, helping the children develop and improve fine motor skills for play, self-care tasks and school related activities. She is always looking for ways to broaden her knowledge base. “I am currently pursuing specialized education in hand and upper extremity rehabilitation, allowing me to better serve patients with a comprehensive understanding of upper extremity conditions, using current evidenced-based practices,” she says. Although Kristy Huse is already an experienced Occupational Therapist, she never stops expanding her expertise, striving to provide the best care possible to patients in our community.
Kristy Huse enjoys the variety of patients she sees at IMH, working with children to adults all in the same day. When asked why people should choose IMH, she replied, “It’s closer. That’s part of the reason I’m taking these classes. When you have surgery on your hand, the hand surgeon typically wants you to see a therapist specializing in hands, but there are none in this area. We will work closely with the orthopedic hand surgeons to provide that closer place for people to get their specialized hand therapy. Our staff is very caring and respectful.” Kristy Huse is an outstanding member of IMH’s team of healthcare professionals.
