Iroquois Memorial Hospital is pleased to welcome our new Registered Dietitian and Dietary Director, Kaylea Heideman.
Kaylea Heideman, RD, is a local health professional with over 10 years of experience in management and food service. In May of 2012, she completed her Associates in Applied Sciences, Hospitality Management from Parkland College. She went on to obtain her Bachelor of Science, Nutrition and Dietetics from Eastern Illinois University. Heideman worked a Priority Nutrition Care Dietetic Internship, where she gained experience in assessing, diagnosing, and treating nutritional problems. She now looks forward to helping others achieve a healthier lifestyle through IMH.
As IMH’s Dietary Director/Registered Dietitian, Kaylea Heideman handles the nutritional needs of in-patients, out-patients, nursing home residents, and also community education. Heideman not only seeks to expand her services at IMH, but also to the community at large. “I’m working on starting more out-patient programs at IMH. I want people to be able to access a dietitian, without needing a referral, and provide more health programs that anyone in the community can join. One-on-ones allow more personalization; we could discuss past diets, what has and hasn’t worked, and customize a meal plan specifically for the individual. Since there aren’t a lot of healthy options in this area [as opposed to a more urban area], I’d also give advice on foods that can be ordered and delivered to their home. This is not limited to just meals, but products as well.” Heideman is excited to provide additional services to our community, and is a great addition to IMH’s team of health professionals.
If you are interested in meeting with Kaylea Heideman, RD, talk to your doctor about getting a referral. If you do not have a doctor, visit imhrh.org to find the number of the IMH clinic nearest you.
