Mary Kay Lavicka has a long history with IMH. She has been a member of the IMH family for 23 years out of her 42 years in healthcare. When Mary Kay  from Tri-Point high school she was a fresh faced farm girl who wanted to be able to help people. She attended Kankakee Community College at 17 and received her certification as a Respiratory Therapist – a certification she still keeps current to this day. When an opportunity opened up for her to explore her interest in outreach and helping companies with their employees’ health, safety, and testing, she couldn’t pass it up. For the next 29 years, many of which have been spent at Iroquois Memorial Hospital, Mary Kay has worked diligently to expand her contacts and develop relationships with people to help them meet their health needs and goals. It is evident that she prides herself on engaging people in the importance of taking care of themselves and helping to teach them how to do just that. If you don’t know her by face, you may know her by her voice – Mary Kay is also the voice of IMH in all of the radio commercials!

When Mary Kay is not taking care of the IMH Community, she can usually either be found outside working in her yard, spending time with her family, or both! Mary Kay and her husband Jimmy live along the Iroquois River just outside of Clifton with their dog, Buddy (Fun Fact: Buddy has been the IMH Mascot in many Iroquois County parades over the years). They will be celebrating their sixth wedding anniversary next month. She has two grown daughters, Katie and Megan, a granddaughter, Ruby, and one on the way! Mary Kay loves to cook especially for large gatherings. In addition to working in her yard, she makes time and really enjoys working out. She tries to make time once a day to do some form of exercise, whether it is going to gym or going for a simple bike ride. To unwind – believe it or not – Mary Kay loves to clean! She will take time to deep clean her house or vehicles just to relax! In addition to all she does for IMH, Mary Kay is also a member of the Iroquois Republican Women’s Club and the 708 Board!

When we asked Mary Kay what she enjoys about working at IMH she said, “My number one passion is the relationships I have been able to build working at a small hospital. Not only with the patients and companies I work with, but also my co-workers! It’s important to me that we [IMH] have a positive impact on every single life that we touch – No matter where we are!” If you ask anyone, Mary Kay does just that. She is one of the most well known faces around IMH and the communities we serve. She is dedicated, hard working, and energetic. Others have described Mary Kay as “always willing to go out of her way to help anyone with anything”, she often takes time to get to know patients and family members as she meets them in the hallways and attempts to make them feel at home.

From all of us at IMH, thank you Mary Kay for your service, dedication, and enthusiasm! You are a true superstar in healthcare!!
