“Alex brings a whole new atmosphere to Medical Imaging at IMH. She is a very hard worker but she’s always full of fun” – Aleshia
If you’ve had an MRI at IMH recently, you may have had the pleasure of meeting Alex Muehling. Alex has been a member of the IMH family for 10 years this month. Like many of the radiologic technologists at IMH, Alex began her career as a student, completing clinical training for Kankakee Community College. She graduated in 2008 and was offered her position immediately. She received on the job training to become skilled at performing MRIs. Before going to school, she knew she wanted to go into healthcare but she didn’t feel like nursing was the right place for her. As a radiologic technologist she is vital for proper patient care and treatment but less involved than direct patient care. Alex has also been instrumental in working with many students through their own clinical training hours.
When Alex is home she enjoys spending time with her family. Alex and her husband David have been married 10 years, starting out as high school sweethearts at the age of 15. They have two children, Kamryn, age 9, and Maddox, age 7. She enjoys doing anything outdoors from coaching her kids’ softball and baseball teams to fishing and hunting – even shooting her first deer last season! She takes time to take care of herself by working out, either at a gym or hiking with her family. She loves spending time baking with Kamryn as well. She and David make time for themselves each year on vacation. Her favorite vacation spot so far is Mexico, but next year they plan to take a trip to the Bahamas – and she can’t wait to “swim with the pigs”!
When we asked Alex what she enjoys most about working at IMH she said, “When I started at IMH I had work associates, now I have a work family!” She and her “work family” enjoy doing escape room challenges together. She often creates fun “Would you rather?” polls around the department to get to know everyone better, too. Others have called Alex “wonderful”, “a joy to work with”, and “always positive and upbeat!”
From all of us at IMH – Thank you for your dedication and positivity Alex! You are a true Superstar in Healthcare!
