Iroquois Memorial Hospital would not be successful without the support of our incredible staff. Some members stand out as Superstars!
Each week, we will be featuring a new Superstar staff member to highlight their outstanding commitment and dedication to IMH and the patients we serve.
This week’s featured employee is Andrea Galloway. Andrea has been a member of the IMH family for two years and in that time she has worked in Central Registration part time, while also completing her clinicals to become a Radiologic Technologist (RT). She says it was very exciting when she started at IMH because she was offered the Registration position and accepted into the clinicals program within the same week. Andrea was a bakery manager and cake decorator for 15 years. She always enjoyed working with people, but as she got older she realized she was not helping people in the way she wanted, she wanted to be able to make a difference for them. Thus, she made the decision to go back to school. This Saturday, May 12th, Andrea graduates from the RT program at Kankakee Community College. However, to become fully certified she must also take her state board tests and she is not wasting any time. She has already scheduled to take her state boards on Wednesday!! Once she passes her boards, she will be fully certified as an RT(R) to take basic x-rays and assist with more advanced medical imaging tests like CT scans.
Working in two different departments and going to school doesn’t leave much time for play but one thing she and her family always make time for is kayaking. She, her husband Eric, and their daughter Reagan actually like to spend as much time around water as possible. In addition to kayaking, they love activities like swimming and fishing, even taking time to go to indoor pools and water parks in the winter time. Andrea and Eric have been married for 7 years, but their romance dates all the way back to their high school days at Herscher High School. They both have busy schedules but always make time for family. Andrea said most people aren’t aware that she has and older sister and a twin sister!
Andrea was nominated as IMH Superstar for her willingness to help others and her team player attitude. Working in two different departments, Andrea has two separate supervisors and both of them highly praised her hard work and dedication to IMH saying she is a “joy” to work with. When we asked Andrea why she enjoyed working at IMH she said, “I love the family dynamic. Everyone genuinely cares about everyone else and the hospital has such a small town feeling. I’m able to get to know the patients and greet them personally.”
From all of us at IMH, thank you Andrea for your outstanding service and we wish you the best of luck at your state testing on Wednesday!! You are a true Superstar in Healthcare!
